Help! 2nd JP 15 with in bad shape

If I were you, I would use that offer. Sucks, when it takes that long, but at least you get something, that was checked.
Or just try another source, optimally a store, where you can try it out yourself in person, but it's hard to find.
And lastly, you can consider ordering from the vault, but taxes are abysmal (like 30% in germany, but still might viable, when you consider, that EU stores also have to pay this, but usually have a better offer).
Of course, a different brand is also viable, but I have no clue, which other model would offer everything, that the JP15 does. Question is, do you need the piezo? Maybe also check for majesty, which are great
So I started listening to Dream Theater since I was born and that kinda made me always wanted a John Petrucci guitar. I never had a piezo + I do not play in a band to use it. I wanted more that it was a dream of mine. I will return it on Monday and think what to do next. It's really annoying

If you don't need the piezo, I'm sure there are a lot of alternatives from other brands. Probably not the exact signature sound, but the question is, if you would achieve that anyway without the Mesa Amp, in case you don't have it. But usually, there is no quality concern with EBMM, sounds like something weird is going on

Yea I do not chase the exact sound more like I wanted to have a good guitar which apparently is not the case...

@Ascendpie you are really unlucky

There is really something wrong with the European distribution of Music Man.
Some brands like Fender or Gibson have their own European distribution center. For instance, if you order a Fender on their site, you receive a guitar from their warehouse in Netherlands.
Now, it seems that Music Man has no real distributors in Europe. A few years ago, there was a distributor for each country (for instance, in France it was Vigier who was the distributor).
Now Music Man guitars are harder to find in Europe.

My old company (industrial) sold a lot of product overseas. Once in a while there were issues with rust on parts. It ended up, after a lot of investigation, that a distributor was opening the original packaging and repacking. This compromised the packaging.

Not sure what is going on here but it smells of something similar, that somebody in the supply chain is messing with the packaging and/or storing the guitars in a very bad environment. Either that or EBMM doesn’t package (or didn’t in this one specific shipment) the guitars appropriately for international shipping and storage.

I'm really sorry to hear about your issue, especially given its the second time this is happening. It really sucks when you are excited about a dream guitar and it turns out to be a let down.

I wouldn't be surprised if you've given up on the JP15 / Thomann completely, but thought I'll share my experience with them.

I recently (Q4 2025) ordered a Jason Richardson Cutlass from Thomann DE for delivery in Dubai.
It was air-freight from Germany in winter to UAE, so the temperature / humidity change must have been huge.
I opened the guitar right away and it guitar arrived in perfect condition and played great right out of the box.

It's my second Music Man after a Sabre, which I acquired towards the end of 2024. This one was purchased locally. Both guitars are recent builds bought brand new so from my experience both the QC at EBMM, and storage / handling at Thomann were very good.

On thing I requested from Thomann before proceeding, was full set of photos and weight of the guitar. I am sure they could have provided this for your guitar so some blemishes or rust / any obvious issues could have been spotted in advance.

Not intending to contradict or challenge your experience, just offering my own perspective.

Did they photos of the guitar right away, without any issues with? I have bought JR7 Majora Purple like month ago and I wanted some photos as well but they wrote mi an email like
" Oh due to logistics we are not able to do the photos".. "We do that like for very expensive instruments SOMETIMES".. I said well.. here we are, I am buying damn expensive guitar :DD

They sent me some pictures and I was just blown away but then, guy on the helpdesk said to me on a phone call, that they have like 2 more pcs on stock.. My reaction was - okay I would like to see at least another one, and the guy told me, that he is not sure if that is possible..

I think that they dont wanna open it if they have more pcs on stock, but I am happy to read that someone also wanted pictures.. God bless Sweetwater for their pictures of individual pieces even if its all same black color...

Zero issues for me. I simply send an e-mail to [email protected], requesting photos of specific JR Cutlass guitar they had in stock, together with air-freight costs into the UAE. They sent a link to the photos a day after, without any concerns. Hope this helps!
