1) John Petrucci
2) Jimmy Page
3) Dimebag Darrell (RIP)

If i could pick a 4 and 5 they'd probably be John Frusciante and Omar Rodriguez Lopez, not sure which way around.

There are too many to name, but robguitar and Pete DuBaldo are tied for #1.

tough one.

I still get goosebumps listening to Kossof - technically nowhere near the guitarists of today but more feel than all put together.(Just him a Les Paul and a Marshall/Orange.)

Sonny Landreth - no other sllide player like him - get to hear him with John Hiatt

Difficult for #3 who do I go for Lowell George/Townshend/Albert Lee/Beck

There are so many, but I tried to come up with three great ones who haven't been named yet. Wasn't too hard.

Danny Gatton
Richard Thompson

Based on actual records that I have put down my hard-earned money for over the last thirty years, I have to agree with the OP, but in a slightly different order:

1) Carlos Santana
2) Jeff Beck
3) Eric Clapton

1.) Phil Keaggy (look him up, if you do not know who he is -- you darn well should)
2.) Steve Morse
3.) Luke

Also - look up Eric Mongrain, Andy Mckee and Pierre Bensusan -- very impressive
