Congrats on number three TV. Not boring at all in my opinion. I do know what you mean though about your P90 AL being alittle too pretty. I once had a beautiful Tom Anderson that played great but I was more afraid of scratching it than playing the damn thing. I hope #3 fits the bill just right!

tvanveen,
So how does Chuck's compare to other Music Stores in the area? Do they take care of their stock or is it a free for all like GC?

I'm going to be down there on the 29th. John Petrucci is doing an in-store meet & greet before their concert that night and I am bringing along my JPM to have it signed.

Do they have a lot of guitars in stock? I may have to bring the check book and see if there's anything that looks promising.

thanks,
fred

Chuck's is *the* area music store. As I understand it, they're one of the foremost independent music stores in the country.

I haven't actually been there in a few years, but it's pretty packed, they have a lot in stock, they have relatively good prices, and the salesmen have always been very cool to me.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by taking care of thier stock. If you go to their website you can check and see what they have in stock.

I was wondering if they allow customers to abuse the guitars ala Guitar Center or do they try and take care of them. I hate seeing really nice "brand new" guitars all beat to hell.

I guess I'm spoiled by my first guitar being a special order EBMM and opening the box at the music store. If I'm going to spend $1500 or better on a guitar, I don't want it to have been abused first.

Anyhow, thanks for the info, I'll take a look at their website. I really have this urge for an Axis. Who knows, I may just come home with 2 balls... I feel so inferior with only one.

I don't know...they have a lot of guitars on display, and you can play them. You have to do that in a music store...

In pretty much any music store, you can talk them down a bit if there are any display dings. I bought a strat from GC last year...I noticed a ding in the neck, showed it to the sALEzDoOd, he dropped $100 off a $900 guitar.

Having said that, Chuck's always had a slighly more serious atmosphere than GC or Mars.

A lot of the better stores ask that you get a sales person to get the guitar down, rather than letting everyone loose.

I remember going into Mars (before they went out of business). They had a separate section in their acoustic guitar room for high end acoustics (Taylors, Martins, Gibsons). I went in and there were a bunch of teen age kids having a party. Several of the guys were jamming and their girl friends were watching. I decided at that moment never to buy a higher end instrument from them.

Oh, I see what you mean. Yeah, last time I was there (10 years ago) the guitars were all in glass cases, you needed a sales guy to get it out for you.
