i just bought my first 30th anniv, i have heard wonderful things about this bass but have not owned one , i will be receiving it next friday, does anyone know how many were actually made? , i have heard the 20th anniv 5 strin with a rosewood neck, and that sounded amazing,, how will the sound compare to that?

Well, first - congratulations! BP said he thought the 30th SR4 was the best Stingray ever made, and those of us who own or have owned one (or in silverburst's case, a HERD of them) agree with the boss's assessment.

Best. Stingray. Ever.

Tone comparisons are extremely subjective, so I won't get into how I think the 30th compares to the 20th SR5 except to say that I think they are both THE BEST examples of those particular models - and they both sound superb.

thanks guys i cannot wait to get it, i am going to have to sell one maybe 2 that i have, but l have been jonesing for one for a while now,

he should have said the 30th was the best 4-string stingray ever made ;)

because the 20th sr5 rules the 5-string world... heheh
