I was thinking Redwood BFR.

Oh my - yes, never doubt it, I'd give up one of my, er, ahem, you know, no, no, I have never used "balls" that way in this forum and I'm not going to start now...so let's just say that I'd TRULY enjoy the Bahama BFR SR5 that Pete has and certainly one of those Redwood BFRs, but I'm afraid them basses is just a bit out of the old Camp Bovine price range.

But what I'm getting is still pretty damned impressive.

Think "only one in North America", if anyone remembers that phrase. And no, it's not a Dargie Bongo (dammit).

The Mahogany Bongo !!??

Now that actually makes more sense than my guess, and it'll make me even more jealous if it happens. The Bongo 6 doesn't cause me any serious GAS, though it's seriously cool, because it has too many strings for me. Hell, the SR5 has too many strings for me. That mahongo, on the other hand, is a stunner that I could conceivably play. I'm still hoping for a BFR Bongo with some sort of cool woods involved (rosewood neck, ash body with a trans finish, that sort of thing), and plotting what I could sell to buy one. I've assumed for a while that we'd be unlikely to see the mahongo as a production model, no matter how limited, since it's so much like the 30th. But I have to say, if given the opportunity, I'd sell my 30th to buy it.

Now I'm REALLY interested.

+1

... but I'm afraid them basses is just a bit out of the old Camp Bovine price range.

yyyyyyyyyeah ... but half a dozen or so Bongos, plus a 20th SR5 and 30th SR4 are collectively NOT?! :)

I guess it's just a matter of how ya feel about "sacrificing" another bass you could have, by buying 1 for the price of 2, on the very rare occasion. And that in turn depends on how you feel about (or how you "value") the one you're willing to do that for & why. It's all highly subjective, of course. And it's ALL good.

Nope, not the mahogany Bongo - nothing quite THAT outrageous. It's a model that anyone could have (and should have) bought, no special insider stuff or any of that.

It's become really difficult for me to wheel and deal like I used to - not that I'm complaining, mind you. The basses I have now are pretty special, and some will never be sold/traded etc.

1. Sapphire Bongo 5 HH: it was my first Bongo. I can't see getting rid of it. I've had it for almost five years.

2. CAR Bongo 5 H: signed by Biff, Luke, Dargin, Dudley, Biff Baby's All-Stars, my wife, my son....it stays.

3. Flaming Biff Bongo 4 HH: goes without saying.

4. The Big Poppa Bongo 4 H: goes without saying.

5. Blue Bomber Bongo 5 H: to replace the CAR Bongo 5 above which has been mostly retired from any real use.

6. 20th SR5 H: STAYS. Sounds too good, looks too good, tastes great, more filling than a regular SR5.

7. SUB 4 active: see items 3 and 4.

So it comes down to actually buying stuff and a retired Navy guy who teaches part-time doesn't get a lot of disposable income.

Not that I'm complaining, boys. I most certainly am not! But I do kind of miss the wheelin' and dealin' now and again.
