I was just clicking through the bass picture gallery thread and noticed that there are very few 4-string basses that have white pickups. Is this just how they are offered or is nobody ordering them with white pickups?

Post some pictures if you have a 4-string with a white pickup! I'd love to see full white (white finish, white pickguard, white pickup, maple board and matching headstock).

I believe 4 string white PU's are a pre EB thing only, though I could be wrong they may have existed in the beginning of the EB era. Im pretty sure there no longer offered currently.

If you look at the picture thread, the very first post has a picture with three sparkle finish basses with white ones. After that there's none (about 35 pages in)!

Excellent question Smallmouth. I have been wondering same my self. Maybe someone from EBMM could answer your question?

I am also wondering if the latest SR5's still have a white pickup option. All the basses I have seen lately would indicate that since the pickup format has changed from "soapbar" to "notched" that white is no longer an option. Can someone please confirm??

I think I have seen a couple of SR5s fairly recently with white pickups. If I am not mistaken, black cherry burst with a white pearloid pickguard ships with a white pickup.

Thanks guys. Yeah I kinda knew they were available until recently. What I am trying to find out is whether they are still available on new models post 2006.

I think I may have found that SR5's did have a white pickup option in 2007. Another forum member posted pics of his new aquisition in 2007. I also noticed that it is the new pickup shape. (unfortunately, I do prefer the old one)

His post is here: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-basses/3413-picture-gallery-93.html#post433986

Sorry for hijacking your 4 banger thread. I think I'll go and ask an expert like Dan or one of the other EBMM staff.

the white pickup covers existed until a couple years ago. i believe the pickup color was based on what color pickguard you had.... pretty much like how the pickup color on the guitars w/ PGs is determined

I think white pickup covers were only found on the first few years of Stingray production. I bought some white covers years back from Dave J. and more after that from Aero Pickups. They are not cheap and are thinner than the black ones so they break more easily. I like the look and swapped them onto a bunch of basses over the years that came from the factory with a black cover.
