As the 40th is just around the corner, I'm hoping the factory is planning a special bass for the occasion. I'm curious what others would want to see in the 40th anniversary Stingray Bass. I for one am a big fan of the 20th without the control plate, and wouldn't mind seeing that again. What about body woods, neck woods, or top sheets?? What would make a great anniversary bass in your opinion?

Yep, I'm sure they have something planned, but it will probably be a surprise. It has to be able to surpass the Classic series, which is hard to do, as well as the dargie delites, etc. I mean, the current classic series is the perfect distillation of the history of the stingray bass, with all the stuff that made the old ones awesome as well as the stuff that improved over the years.

I can't imagine anything that could improve on the 30th Anniversary model, but I'll be interested to see what they come up with.

Roasted Maple Classic Neck, sonic blue, 4 or 5 string, 2EQ/3EQ with passive tone control, ebony board, white pup covers.

The stingray is pretty special anyway, I'm sure EBMM
will come up with something amazing as usual.

The 30th is a hint. One color, one model, 4-strings, IIRC
the only option was FL. Maybe EBMM is gonna keep the
extreme ideas on hold for the 50th ?

Just played a stellar gig thanks to my SR. I'm so impressed I'm starting saving for a 40th anniversary from this very day :)

An Anni Bass with some of the newer Sting Ray inovations... like the new string-through neck and a 2EQ preamp incorporating the passive switching option. Crescent moon control plate remains, of course. That would be nice

Perhaps all Black with chrome/nickle hardware and Trans Black figured neck with ebony fretboard.

That will be really awesome!

Needs to be something beautiful; Classic plank body, binding, string-through bridge, heavily figured top wood, matching headstock, rosewood fingerboard with kind of special mother-of-pearl inlays. 2EQ or 3EQ options....

Despite very nice woods used on 20th anni., they still don't look quite right to me (those with removed pickguards).

Okay, my input: an SR made of some unusual lightweight wood (pine, cedar?), unusual finish (make it green, make it green!) and matching headstock, RW (or other darkwood. ebony?) f-board and [DRUM ROLL] Bongo pickup and preamp! :)

All I could ad to that is bolt on neck (not a fan of straight through) and that list sounds very nice :)
