5 hh set up

just got a 5string hh stingray . played it at a gig and i ws blown away , rest of the band couldent believe it . the trrouble im having is that i like my action as low as posible ( OK SO IM LAZY ) . i took down athe neck a click and lowered the bridge . everything is great untill the 12th fret . the b is ok , e okish, A theres real buzz problem, d ok and e fine . have i done something wrong . setting up guitars is not one of my strong points are there any pointers or words of wisdom that can help ?

I do lower my bridge saddles from the stock setting, but I do them consistently...generally half a turn each screw. You may have lowered them too much. Did you keep track of how many turns you did? I'd start back at the initial setup if you can, then check your action. Make sure you have at least a tiny bit of relief.

If the buzz is at frets 12+ you may actually have too much relief.

Not every bass is going to allow you to lower its action super low without a fret leveling. EB basses are better than any other production bass I've seen straight from the factory (G & Ls are the worst for high quality basses), and most of them will allow for very low action with just a truss rod and bridge saddle adjustment, but depending on how low you really want your action, you may need to take the bass to a QUALIFIED tech to have it set up properly. Also, as you know, super low action requires you to play with a delicate touch.

you shouldnt have touched the bridge..just a tweak of the truss will do. Most returns are people over correcting the factory spec...raise the bridge a tad and let the magic truss rod wheel do its thing

thanks a lot guys . unfortunatly i dident take notes just charged in like a bull in a chinashop. its very playable if you dont go past the 12th fret . doest really bother me as i very seldom do anyway . i read a few notes on the faq site which i will follow . trouble is all the measurements are i think in imperal and overhere there in metric. never been any good at maths got to try and decode everything . The bass is bloody marvelous a dream , man never had a bass that just cuts though all the muck and can be heard . drummer was over the moon , lead git dident like me much as now ive got a huge thick sound and like most lead players nothing must be heard exept them ..... coool . thank you ernie ball .

Like I told Jack tonight-to me, EBMM basses are the easiest basses to set up.

BTW, BP-what gauge Slinkys are on that BP Bongo? Feels like 100-40 to me.
