5 string serial#

I have a Stingray 5 string, Serial# 52838. What is it's manfacture date?

Does the serial number have a code that tells you the date?

Well, I'd say your bass was built sometime around May or June of 1992. There's no "code" in the serial numbers, but you can pull your control cavity cover off and check the back of the pots.

But my opinion comes from this:

1. Serial number 521xx was built in May 92.
2. Serial number 529xx was built in June 92.

Yours falls between those. Could be chronologically out of order, it happens, but that's a guess until the moderators come back (if they ever come back).
