5 String Tuning Questions

Hello guys! Quick search pulled up nothing(in the forum).

Does tuning a Musicman Bongo 5HH in EADGC stress the neck or cause any long term damage to these beast? I would had to snap a headstock because of too much tension or something crazy like that.

Thanks for any help.

Should also state, I'm not really interested in opinions as to why BEADG tuning is better or why EADGC is for doofus players. I am strictly looking for information on the question above! Thanks, friends!

I would say that you should be ok as long as the bass has the new compensated nut. I'm sure others will chime in.

Back in 2012, I switched my Reflex 5 HH to the same tuning. I didn't have any issue that a proper set-up didn't take care of.

Just check the overall tension of the string set. As long as you use the right high C for that set it should be fine.

So, I currently threw a .32 gauge on with a set of 45-105s. That was a no-no?

That should work just fine. 30 something is about right for a high C
