7 String Silhouette

I think this would be cool.
But what is important is, what do you think?

sounds good, especially if it had a fixed bridge, although maybe with a flatter radius over the standard silo.

I think it would be a cool idea...not sure what the demand for one would be. Maybe it is too low to retool the factory to do that. But, I am sure it would play like a dream as most EB's do.

What foggy said... But I guess for this to work, it must be significantly different from the JP7... Maybe a fixed bridge, different pickup combinations, maple fretboard (!)...

There's not much choice for a maple fretboard 7-strings on the market though...

BP has said the market share for 7stringers is tiny and barely warrants a JP7, let alone another 7 string guitar. But... it'd be cool!

Well, I'm a 7-string player (I only play 7-strings these days) and despite my great love for MusicMan guitars, I have not purchased the JP7(!). Why? Well, it's simply because I prefer other woods than JP and unless I have a massive change of heart, my JP6 will have been the last basswood body/rosewood board guitar to sneak its way through my doors.

If a maple neck Silo 7 came out, I'd buy it in a heartbeat - simple as that!

Let me be the first to admit that the JP7 is an excellent guitar and that EBMM with it has one of the very best production 7-strings out there... it's just that I prefer alder (or swamp ash) bodies and maple boards.

It is my hope that JP (en lieu of the great success with the BFR), will concider other wood combos for his standard model as well. This scenario is truly the only one I see opening the door for a Silhouette-ish 7-string as I know how small the 7-string market is.

Here's to hoping that a Silhouette-ish 7-string comes out!

Cheers

Pablo, I admire your ability - I have enough trouble with six strings.

It is the main drawback with signature guitars - options are limited to what the player who puts his name to the guitar agrees to.

I'd love to see a Morse with maple or ebony as a fretboard but it's not gonna happen unless Steve says so.

We can all dream...

Well, it has nothing to do with skill or ability really (if you heard me play, you'd know), it's just a question of adjusting to the extra string. I'm sure no bass player would think that it's any more difficult to play on a 5-string than on a 4-string. If anything, it's easier, as you have more notes at your disposal within a single position.

Yup, you hit the nail on its head with the "what they want is what you get". IMHO the JP7 is just about perfect... I'd just like it with different woods.

A 7-string Morse with a maple board? Now we're talking ;)

Cheers
