So yeah, EBMM have one of the best 7 strings on the market in the JP7, but have they ever considered bringing out any more 7's? Like a SUB-7?

Seing as the SUB range is discontinued, I don't really see that model happening... and though I'd personally love a maple neck AL 7, Silo 7 or SS 7, I highly doubt that EBMM is shifting enough 7s for that to ever happen.

Well, I said SUB just as an example.

An Axis 7 would be awesome. Most 7 strings are strat variants, so it'd really stand out a mile.

Adding another 7 stringer would require a fair amount of engineering and re-tooling, I'd imagine. (Not that MM can't do that ... look at the Bongo6 for example.)

But there would really have to be a good market for another 7 to make it fly. I have to imagine there's not that much demand for another 7 stringer in their lineup, especially as the JP is such a popular model. Also, given how many new ideas the MM crew has that they can't pursue due to production limitations, etc, this would be in conflict.

But hey, I'm just another armchair quarterback here.

Also don't see another 7string needed in the lineup, there's no demand for that I think.

Surely the popularity of the JP model would show that there is a demand for 7s?

The JP7 rules!
Indeed it does ! I have one that is very similar to yours, sans the JP inlays.
Can you post some more photos of the Buttercream in your avatar and namesake(new thread or pic thread of course to stop my hijack:))? I don't see it in your sig tho... still own one?

Those are sweet!

That's what I figured, BP. Also, to complicate things, with the introduction of a BFR JP baritone guitar, EBMM will have 5 unique JP models available. I don't think they'll want to stretch their production any further.

Im a JP7 owner a beautiful guitar in Desert Gold. I was always curious about a seven string, I am a fan of JPs work, and when I tried a JP7 I was blown away by the quality and the sound this guitar was making. I ordered a 7 string because honestly it was something I wanted just for the hell of it.

Its been 7 months now since I've got my guitar, and I love the 7th string it was a change, its really something extra, also I've become more creative with that string, heavier riffs, nice funk lines (slaps nicely!) some really cool stuff. Also I can see why its not selling as fast as the JP6, when people see my guitar the first question they ask WHY would I want a 7th string? It's a matter of preference I guess.

Also I must confess I've been wanting some 6 string models, I want them, it took me 4 years of savings to pay for my JP7 (unemployed student) and I dont know how much will take for my next ball but I hope the BFRs are still around.

7's all I really care about at this point. 6's kind of bore me. :D

Yeah, I'm really only playing 7's these days. I wouldn't say 6's bore me though, it's that I'm much more comfortable with 7, and playing 6 feels like I'm missing something.

Yeah, I hear ya. I've been playing 7's exclusively really for the last ~5 years, so I'm more or less just accustomed/dedicated to it at this point.

Every time I consider or look for a guitar now it's a 7. Buying a 6 for me is just frivolous at this point.
