what struck me was that the new basses have a far better build quality. the neck pocket is tighter, the new bridge has straight string pull and is fastened better, the truss wheel is genious compared to the old fashioned allen nut at the top of the neck, 6 bolts to fasten the neck keeps it nice and tight and the fret job is way better too..

now in defence of the old bass, its light in weight, the neck is straight as an arrow even after 26 years, it resonates almost like an acoustic and it has a lot of mojo.

i havent plugged it in yet, still have a cpl of things that needs to be taken care of first so i dont know how it sounds. needs a new nut because the previous owner has used it in bead tuning..

Where's the pics????

They do resonate acoustically very loudly. On the truss rod thing...once I setup the neck relief after I bought them, I haven't had to go back to touch the truss rod even after years of having them.

the neck is straight as an arrow even after 26 years
You mean, after over 32 years....
Did you happen to unbolt the neck to verify the date stamp?

You can fill the old nut slots with super glue, and recut the slots to whatever string gauge you're using.

Again, where's the pics?
