if that had a nice Birdseye maple neck and fretboard I would buy it off you right now..... okay with that being said that is one of the best looking vintage MM's I have ever seen---> it looks more new than my 99'! someone here should buy it and keep it safe....

That is one saweeet looking bass, my man.

Yes, I agree. I would have to bid if it had a maple neck. I am a maple guy. But good selling strategy! Putting an adorable kid holding it on the page might increase hits.

Another interesting note to go with the Mocha Ray......

When I bought this bass (about a year ago) it also came with a set of bass strings. Obviously the prospect of receiving a free set of strings didn't influence the purchase. When I received the bass via UPS and opened the case I was stunned to learn that the "free" set of strings were made by Musicman circa late 70's !

I still have the set here at home, unused and unopened. Not certain if I should post them on Ebay or hold on to them. It is difficult to put a value on something like that. The pics of the strings are too big to post here in the message. If anyone wants to see them give me a hollar at,

Hey Randy,
Nope, I sold the gold Ray on ebay a while back. She was a bit too heavy for me. The buyer is very happy to have her. Hope all is going well on your end.

:D

I won that auction. She's now sporting a '79 maple board neck and a black pickguard.

I'm doing, well I bought a Honeyburst/Maple SR4 after I sold you the 77 and i'm very happy with it. It's very light compared to the 77 and even my SR5. Aside from the weight, the tone of that bass was great though wasn't it ?
