Maybe Bigpoppa has the answer to my question. Did you change the supplier of maple in the mid nineties, I am asking because the neck my EVH from 1995 is a lot brighter than the 1995 one of my customer I have on the bench right now. It is way more like amber. It is not only the bare wood section but the headstock back as well. Just curious.
My silouette 1994 ambers more, it has about 200 gigs more on its back.
Thanks Mick

Although I don't know, I'd say wood will darken under UV light. Maybe some got more exposure, some didn't?

Also my ASS maple neck from 2001 is a little darker than that of my AS from the same year. But the ASS's neck is figured, while the AS's is not. Maybe that adds to the equation, too.
The neck of the 1997 AS is as dark as that of the 2001 ASS. It is figured as well, although not as intensively.
