I was over at my Dad's house on Thanksgiving & fell in love with the color of his Stingray-Buttercream. Having played my Affinity for about 2 years now, I fell in love with the Bongo at the local Guitar Center here. I had been looking at several different brands & models before finally deciding on eventually getting a Bongo. Went over to his house today for Christmas dinner, & this is what he got me, I was shocked, & already love it to death.

That is a sweet Christmas present! You've got one hip dad. If you're less than 18 years old, all I gotta say is when I was your age, I walked uphill in the snow barefoot and played a piece of crap bass with 10 year old strings ;)

You had strings? You were lucky! I had to crawl 6 miles on a gravel road to get to rehersals, held in the middle of a highway. Didn't have a bass, I played a wash tub strung with a piece of electrical wire.

Did you have to forego clothing to afford the bass, too? At least you could wash your clothes in your bass.

What did, um, I think it was Richard Pryor say? "When I was a kid, we were so poor we couldn't buy toys so my momma had to cut holes in my pant pockets so I had something to play with."

Beautiful Bongo!! I'd freak out if a family member of mine gave me something like that. Of course, I'm so poor, I got married just for the rice....
