A friend in town is a retired Fender employee. Gisela Cooper---whose last name may have been different back then---did the books in Fullerton. When she sees a player with a Strat or Precision, she chuckles "I used to sign Leo's paychecks."

The other evening at a small venue here in Cambria, I met Kerry (Keri?), a San Luis Obispo chef. I mentioned kitchen knives and their danger before a gig, and she told me she's Brian Ball's former girlfriend and still a friend.

I enjoyed her story about BP's cooking challenge to her. Not only was she cooking three soups in the competition, but she had no idea BP's guests included celebrity golfers and musicians.

BP, she didn't say whether you won or she did...

Nothing to do with bass playing, just that there's a connection to BP.

....who happens to be a bass player, and bass maker, and the OP is a bass player posting on a guitar/bass forum, from a company that Leo Fender has a history with, about a story with ties to Leo Fender. I think that's the bass connection, or something like that.

Sounds like a cool story Rick!
