Hi, all! I've been a sometimes member over at the Petrucci forums as virtuousdisciple, and I've been the owner or a Pearl Redburst Petrucci 6 string since late last Spring. I had a few problems I tried to deal with then, and I think there are still some things that need work on it. I've noticed that pulling up on my tremolo, the note i've fretted starts distorting. It sounds as if my finger is right over the fret, if that helps. It seems to be either at a step and a half or two steps. Also, on the B and high E strings, i can only pull up about a whole step. I'm not sure if this is related, but these strings also seem to take on an annoying buzz when i bend them.
I'm not sure if this is normal, but my trem bar seems to hit something and made a thumping noise soon after being pushed or pulled. When I looked at the trem claw to see if i could balance my bridge, based on some advice I'd read here, I noticed I also have a noticable hole in both the wood and finish directly above the center of the middle spring. This is obviously rather distressing, as I can't imagine what would have caused it. I don't think the back of the guitar has been opened, unless the store I bought it from did some bridge setup.
Finally, I have had 9s on this guitar, which led me to believe that could have caused some of these problems. I think I've balanced the trem, though I'm not sure, and I still am having problems. I was told that it was made for 9s and they gave it to me with those, so that's what I've used. Supposedly with 10s the G string can't intonate properly...though I believe otherwise based on what i've read here. The first time I changed the strings myself I took them all of at once since I didn't know any better, so that may have also caused some of my problems. I'm sorry to have so many complaints and questions at once, but I really love a lot about this intrument, and I want to make it work for me like I think it can. I really appreciate your help, and I hope I can be a positive member of the forums here. Thanks a lot.
