Dear friends,

it is with greatest delight that I am able to announce a breakthrough in long-lasting horticultural endeavours in the particular field of forestry.

As we all know, the alder (Alnus), being a member of the birch family of trees (Family Betulaceae) usually is a deciduous type of flowering plant and as such is losing it's verdancy during autumn and winter in a process known as abscission.

Nevertheless, there are very few species of alder - such as the Alnus jorullensis - that are indeed keeping their greenery throughout the year, thus being called Evergreen.

Using the horticultural technique of grafting it was now successfully achieved to pair such said Evergreen alder with rosewood, a richly hued timber belonging to the genus Dalberga. To ensure proper vascular joining of the two types of wood (inosculation) and give a maximum of stability to the joint, the rosewood branch is being held in place by means of a metal plate and screws - a technique well known in the medical specialty of surgery.

So, without further ado, let me present you the result which can be regarded an outstanding achievement in aesthetics and tone.

You might notice that the Silhouette of this newly composed timber indeed is Special...

Coming from it's former habitat - a texan tone-wood enthusiast's tree nursery- it adopted well to the mild middle european climate

Gladly, it survived the replanting process in immaculate shape

Perfect result of the grafting process by superlative craftsmanship

Um, I have 12 acres of land that is actively forest managed. There's nothing in my agreement with the state that would prevent me from doing a similar graft. Could you please forward me the exact procedure you used to create this new breed? Assuming it's not patented.

Thanks for the nice comments guys :)

I guess I should explain myself...yes the colour is indeed called "Evergreen pearl", should have mentioned it earlier as I can imagine the rather strange thread makes a little more sense now (if at all...:))

I absolutely love the colour but have yet to take a picture of it that even comes close to what it really looks like, guess I'll have to wait for the sun to come out...given the middle european summer that might take a while...

Sign me up for your gardening lessons.

Can't take credit for it...the only thing I did was to plant it in my garden. I guess it would be best to contact CS to see if there are any magic seeds left...:D

OH WOW!! I actually gasped out loud when I saw this - truly breath taking! (And that's despite the big dots) :)

What's the colour called?

Edit: I want a rosewood necked Silo Special SO BAD now!

Those were my exact thoughts when I first saw it...;)

Congrats Patrick as that is totally drool worthy. All 9 of my Balls are humbuckers, but I would definitely jump on that bad boy.

Well, I'm a bit more of a singlecoil guy so the Silo Special is right up my alley.
Try one (or an Albert Lee) and you'll be hooked :)

Very nice Patrick. Congrats!

Thanks Jeff! Can you imagine a tangerine pearl Special with a full rosewood neck...;)

Jack, I guess we'd be in trouble of counterfeiting a proprietary design...Wonderdog probably won't be pleased!
Well, we could always say it just grew that way;)
