as a shorttimer member i thought i should thread carefully.. :)

now i do know we are fortunate to be able to browse this site, interact and have fun. i also know that there is a cost involved in running it. software upgrades, renting webspace in the cloud, personel required to operate it..

i still have to humbly ask if there is another skin you would allow me to use on this board..

i have tried, really tried to get along with the new look. at first i thought.. aww.. it will just be a little while and i will get used to it. no point in complaining. its not like the world went under..

but lately it feels like the world got worse.. the big blue and sometimes red icons can sometimes have little green arrows in them.. my eyes go to the icons and my mind cant follow.. was red not read or read.. was blue read or not read.. oh thats true.. the red is for a hot topic..

now the result is that i dont spend as much time in here as i used to..
hehe.. now some might say that is an advantage ;)

i guess it might be that im getting old.. but i would love to have icons that doesnt steal all the attention and perhaps a tiny bit bigger fonts ;);)
definitely getting older, eh? :D

still, its just my internet opinion and should be treated as such..

humbly signed

It's not that complicated.. From what I've gathered:
Blue folder icon: normal topic
Red folder icon: hot topic (200+ views or something like that)
Green arrow: you've posted there before, so are likely following it.
Blue arrow next to big icon: new post. Click the arrow to go to the new post.

In any case, I prefer not to worry about the icons and just use the "what's new" function at the top of the page, which shows you all topics with new posts since you last visited. I then proceed to open in new browser tabs the ones I'm interested in by clicking the blue arrows. I read a few, then open a few more and proceed.

just found out that adblockers work fine for what i wanted. all i had to do was dig out the location of the images from the css...

no more grey/blue/green/open envelope with lots of paper in it/closed envelope with no paper in it/green tag confuzzling for me :)

i just browse what i want to read regardless of how popular the board software thinks it should be ;) ;)

aight.. for those wondering you should block this address: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/images/statusicon/*.*

also the size of the text can be adjusted if you go to:

*my profile
*customize my profile (which is a block just above the right hand corner of where you type in messages)
*font family and then select a bigger size from the pulldown list (normally says x-small unless you have changed something before)

now back to fretting more ;)

MrM

ps: unless you have a fretless.. then less is more i guess?
