A luke could be coming

Going to go and look at a second hand candy red luke tomorrow but don't know what to expect playability wise.
My current guitar's are a morse and a wolfgang, how do you think it will sound and play compared to those.
Had a choice of the luke and a axis but i thought the luke will give me every sound i will ever need

Can't believe the wife is up for me buying it .

And why are people like me so drawn to signiture guitar's , if i buy it that will be 3 ?

Well, I guess you will either love or hate the neck with its slightly asymetrical V-profile and the low profile frets. From my experience I can tell you that it took a little time for me to adjust my playing but it was well worth it. The Luke is a different beast but it is very rewarding once you manage to tame it

You may have to get used to the sound of the active EMG pups as opposed to the passive ones of your current guitars as well. To my ears they sound a bit more compressed and balanced than the passive ones that I have in my other guitar.

Generally speaking, the Luke can cover a wide range of styles and has a lot of sounds you can discover.

Lukes are great, very versatile. Their response and tone is quite different to the other EBMM offerings so they compliment a collection very well.

Now if this is the same candy red luke that just finished without bids on ebay.co.uk and is in Hereford then I can tell you it sounds and plays great. I sold it to this guy back in July 07 for a lot less than he claimed he bought it for in his ebay listing!!! PM me for details if you want.

True. Unfortunately, the first EBMMs I tried were not set up well. I really didn't have a clear idea how good the guitars were until much later when I got to try my friend's JP6. I passed on the first couple EBMMs I tried--both JPs IIRC, because I really didn't know what I was going to be getting into. I think there was a Luke in there too. I kept an open mind, though about the guitars. At least, I was experienced enough to know that the set-ups could just be lousy--not the guitars. I suppose I should have asked them to set-up the guitars, but I didn't really have the money then to buy them anyway.

My guess is that your other guitars are going to get dusty.

I,m just concerned about the neck profile , love Emg's , Love Luke's sound its just that neck.
Just have to wait and see how it feels.

I stilll fancy the Axis instead of the wolfie but that would be greedy i think .

i own an axis and i tried a luke recently. the neck feels great. but i have to say i much prefer the neck on my axis ( i think god designed that neck. its perfect). but the tone that comes from the luke is awesome . those pickups really give the sound a great kick. very nice guitar. i may add one to my eb collection at some point once i get my jp6 and silo special. good luck. but from what i read above. i would geet the details of spkirby and find out how much room u have to haggle with. (i almost had a punt and bought that luke myself when i saw it had no bids on ebay. but decided to keep the money for the 2 i have in line.)

Eventually I got one of each, but I like the Lukes neck better than the Axis one. Guess you just gotta try it.

It sounded every bit as good as i thought it would and the colour and look of the guitar just oozes class .

Didn't find the neck to skinny either which i thought i might have after reading a lot off this forum.
Big thanks to steve for giving me a heads on what he sold the guitar for in the first place (you where right about the colour being special)

Only thing i need to sort out is to get the bridge back floating , its flush on the body.
Can any of you fellow LUKE owner's confirm there's velvet under the trem to protect the bodywork.
