Why is this Luke's neck, darker & shiner then most Luke necks... ??

I've only seen one other Luke neck like this....

So has it been processed to be this way or is this Luke of the draw ? (oops, I meant Luck of the Draw..)

To me, and I could be wrong, it seems like there is more figure in the wood which is darker and with the finish makes it look darker. I think that is one beautiful neck. Congrats to whoever owns it.

All unfinished necks after little more using become darker, look back side of headstock (clean and bright) and unfinished side, darker+ oiled/waxed

Okay... so attrition equals Mojo equals darker/shinier finish with more birds-eye emphasis coming thru as a consequence...

Next, obviously leading, question...

Can one induce this "Mung" or distressed state by oiling & waxing... maybe even the slight application of a stain without affecting the overall feel of the guitar?

Lucidology,

My JP neck has yellowed quite a bit in less than 2 years. I'm no scientist, but I attribute it to my sweat being somewhat acidic or something. Earlier this month I oiled & waxed it for the 1st time, so I don't know how much impact this has on the color (although it made the neck feel lightning fast again!).

I'm digging the mojo of the aging neck though... my Y2D neck looks stark white next to it! I guess it needs more playing time!

The only way to attain the "Mojo" state ... is to play it ... again and again !
You may speed the process up by not washing your hands before playing ! ;)

Seriously i have a 10 years old Axis and the neck is nearly brown ... nobody wants to touch my guitar, but they all agree : Major MOJO !

AHAHA
