So I was listening to the radio on the way home when I heard Chita (The cool blonde laid back fox of a DJ I know personally) say "Thanks for dropping by and remember you can see Joe Satriani tonight in the parking lot of Guitars etc. at 7:00"

I called my partner in crime (a fellow rocket scientist) and told him. His response was "We're going. Next question."

So at 7:00 tonight Satch steped out on a stage at the local guitar store parking lot and played for 45 minuets with backing tracks. You missed it and this was the coolest thing to happen in Tucson. Ever.

The line for autographs after the show was a mile long so I didn't stick around for that. I thought if I did I would have asked, What did you think of that guitar you played in San Francisco?

I saw Joe do something similar last summer at a workshop I went to.

A great, great way (all too rare) to see exceptional guitar players.

Better than a concert imo.

Satch can squeeze more feeling out of individual notes than just about any guitarist I've ever heard. And his composing is miles beyond every other shredder I can think of except STEVE MORSE.

Lucky Norm.
