I’ve been a happy owner of an EBMM SR4 for about 8 years but all of the new pickup options on the EB basses have been really tempting lately. So one day while browsing through Craigslist, I saw a beautiful, brand new Sterling HS and a nice little Roland combo posted for $1200. So I thought, “I could easily sell my Stingray, justifying the purchase of this bass” although I foresaw feelings of regret because I love the feel and tone of my Stingray.”

Well, the bass was located about 2 hours away so I contacted the owner and asked if he ever came down my way because I was interested in his Sterling. He said he doesn’t but would sell it to me for $800 if I came and got it. “WHAT?! OK! I’ll be there tomorrow”. The bass was in Monterey and I’m in SLO so it was a beautiful drive up HWY 1 away. The guy was cool; After one bass lesson, he said he just didn’t have the time for it. Too bad, I did. After playing a few lines, I happily paid him, put my gorgeous new bass in its case and as I was leaving, he said “Hey, don’t you want these too”? So I got a new Roland cube, a nice strap and a cable too.

With a fresh set of strings, the Sterling and I are in Love. But what about the Stingray?...
There’s no way I can part with it! Both of these basses are so incredibly enjoyable to play in their own way that they will be with me for a long time. So the moral is and I’m learning this more as I read all of your posts: You can’t have too many Musicmans.

Congrats on the new Sterling!

Keep the 'Ray; you saved $400 on the purchase that you weren't expecting anyways.

I love posts like this one. Congrats on your new Sterling. I don't have it in me to sell a EBMM bass. You will never have too many.
