guitar in the bedroom or any small room that is. ;)

I know it's all relative to the wattage of the amp you have, but I was wondering how high you crank the volume on your amps while playing at home.
I also realize if there's nobody around it might be cranked up a tad.

I have my crappy Marshall MG30dfx. It's a 30 watt amp and most of the time the colume dial is set around 2.
If I'm all my my lonesome, then it may go as high as 4.

So how the rest of you?

I have my 50W Stiletto and 2x12 in my "studio" right next to the TV room. With the master volume on that I can get some serious cranked tone while the rest of the family is watching Hannah Montana or whatever the hell those shows are. No problems.

When no one is around? Actually I've never really looked at the settings, I just know that I can't max it out, it would kill me in that space. If I had hair, it would be blowing in the wind.

Hey Foggy, you gonna make it out to the desert bash?

I gave it some serious thought, but decided against it this time around.
I've just got too many things going on at the same time.
I some knuckle heads will give me the riot act, but maybe next time around.

This is why in the end I sold the VHT and bought a cornford 18 watts with a master and gain control.
As a general rule of thumb, both gain and master are on half.

The Mark IV barely sees 1.5 (unless I use my attenuator) at home. In the practice room, 2 is plenty loud. It's a very sensitive volume knob and an extremely loud amp. It's never even seen 3 (again, unless I'm using the attenuator)!

My Mesa doesn't have any numbers on it, but if it goes up to the equiv of "3" it's making the house resonate!

I'm seriously thinking of getting one of those 1/4 watt smokey amps for the house.

I've had my Marshall "right up" when there's no one about!!

You wont get a mesa right up in the house :D:D:D

I got to the equivalent to 4 on the master volume on my dual rec. and then there were threats of police action....

I turned it down :(

I play at about 2 in the house because the speakers for the pc wont be heard above that volume

Guytron 100W head ... had her half open once in the basement ... rattled it but good.

It scales perfectly at all volumes. On "0.5" still sounds damn close to wide open

Banjoplayer;I tried one of those a few years back in the local store and I remember it had a really sweet clean tone.

Do I hear another scotsman here :)

also Banjoplayer....I take it that crate is a pre-Ampeg one

thanks, bought it used 6 years ago, so I can´t really tell, how old it is.
Sweet clean, stunning, really stunning crunch and nice distortion.
You can read everywhere, that it is a blues amp but...no...you can really rock with it. Very warm tone, only for high gain a booster is recommended.

At home I use a Rocktron Chameleon plugged straight into my hi-fi amp. Means I can practice using headphones and still get some not too bad sounds.

I'm giving some serious thought to building a small valve amp though.....

Mind you, got to get the two speaker cabs, the piezo splitter and the buffers built 1st !!!!

My Rivera Clubster 45 rarely gets up above 1.5 except for the time Jessie (19 month old daughter) came in to the room and with an unerring instinct grabbed the master volume above all the otherknobs and cranked it wide open.
We both s**t ourselves.
It' s the only thing that makes me wish I had a Mesa Express over the Rivera, being able to switch it down to 5 watts would be verrrrry useful.
