I have an EBAS guitar and I need to know more about it. It has the old Humbucker and 2 single coils setup and is translucent purple. I have pictures if they could help in finding more about this guitar. Email me @ [email protected] for these pictures. It is rare as far as i can tell. Serial number on it is: A91575. Thanks for any help that you can give me.

The first year or two of production the Axis Sports had pickguards and came in a number of configurations. I don't think they qualify as rare, but they're nice guitars. evilBay prices on these seem to range around $400-$500 depending...

Depending on what? I was thinking of listing this on eBay to see what I could get for it. Thanks for your help.

Just throw it up with a reserve that you know won't be met (or you can't believe someone would pay.)

When the auction ends, that's what it's worth that day in the marketplace. You might get +/- $50 by relisting it, but it's a good gauge as to true resale value.

I tried doing this yesterday, but I dont have enough money in my bank account yet to set it up like I want. I didnt know eBay charged .15 cents per picture and the setup fees, etc.. I need to go to the bank to throw in some money so I can list it. Another reason I havent listed it is because I want to know MORE specifics about it. I emailed some people at Ernie Ball and I am waiting for a reply. Ill also base what I sell it for from what i see here as well

This is the only one I've seen get any bids on eBay lately - they usually weigh in at about $450, but I saw a real nice trans-blue one with a rosewood board and matching headstock in an EB tweed case sell for $500 BIN a month or two ago...

Factors which effect the final price include your feedback - 'cause people won't take as big a risk on sellers with negative or no feedback - and the number/clarity of pics...

Heres the sequence of emails I got from Ernie Ball. If it looks like I am asking stupid questions, thats because I have no idea of these guitars value and makeup. I am a Les Paul player. Do not hang me. Thanks
Also the questions are below the answers that Beth from Ernie Ball gave me.

Dear Joseph,

Thank you for contacting Ernie Ball/Music Man!

Your Axis Sport in Translucent Purple with humbucking-single-single pickup configuration, tremolo bridge system and maple neck was born on 12 September, 1997 here in the factory in San Luis Obispo, California and was originally sold to Sims Music in Colombia, South Carolina.

The body is made of ash and the pickups are Music Man humbucking, and single coil pickups. It is a great and beautiful instrument. I like that picture where you can see you in the reflection of the guitar too! Enjoy!

If you ever have any other questions or comments, please feel free to contact us.
Best regards,

Hello,

I am curious to know about the specifics about my Ernie Ball guitar. I’ve had it for several years now and rarely play it anymore. I was wondering about what kind of pickups it has, body type, what wood was used in making it, and any other specifics about this guitar. I have pictures included with serial number and some general photos of the guitar for your assistance. I bought it from a friend of mine who didn’t keep the paper work with it and has since been lost / misplaced. Any help will be gladly appreciated. In one of the photos you can actually see my face in the body. It is quite a cool picture in my opinion. I love this guitar and just want to know more about it. Thanks again for your help.

I think around USD$1300-$1400, but I am not entirely sure. One of our old, crusty salesmen here at EB says that it was in that range...

Thank you Beth. What did this guitar retail for in 97?

Hi Joseph!

I'd love to tell you that it is a rare, one-of-a-kind custom guitar, but it is not. I really do not know how much it would retail for on the market today, you might try Ebay and see if there are other instruments like it and how much they are selling for.

Thanks for the recommendation for a raise! I'll have to pass it on to the pres.

Best regards,
Beth

One final question of sorts. Is it a “rare” one of a kind custom? And what would it retail for on the market today? You are truly helpful and I cant thank you enough for your quick and dedicated answers. EB needs to give you a raise.. J

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get bids rolling in on eBay? Or is it a mad dash at the end of the auction? Or are Ernie Balls not that desoreable these days? Thanks....

The real bidding action doesn't take place until the last day and usually not until the last hour. Of course this is on hot items, where it can really be a feeding frenzy.

It's fun to check the bid history afterwards and see the flood of bids at the end. This is of course if you're putting up more desirable items.
