"Chevelle has announced on its website that bassist Joe Loeffler will not be touring with the band this summer. A posting from Loeffler's brothers, singer/guitarist Pete Loeffler and drummer Sam Loeffler, reads, "After three years of non-stop touring and recording, Joe is taking a break to be home with family. We'll miss having him on the road with us, but as his brothers and bandmates we respect his decision and are looking forward to getting out there and playing for the fans. See you on tour."

As far back as last December, Joe Loeffler told The Zone that he was weary of being on the road: "I'm just tired. I wanna go home. Got a nice house there waiting with a jacuzzi. Just want to go for a drive, you know, in my own car, and instead I'm traveling every single day. What a career. What a life to have."

Former Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo will be filling in on bass for Chevelle's summer dates. Joe Loeffler's departure is not expected to be permanent.

Chevelle's tour will kick off on July 9th in Indianapolis, Indiana, and wrap up on August 21st in Tucson, Arizona. Most of the dates will also feature Taproot and 30 Seconds To Mars, although Chevelle will open for Velvet Revolver at a handful of shows."

i wonder if i could borrow any of his rays and bongos while he's on break.

I will find out since he is my neighbor! I just got to think on how to bring it up! Joe has his own project so I hear!

Okay so it's been two years since he's left...guess it turned permenant. It's a bummer because I really liked his sound in Chevelle. I understand the new bassist is their brother-in-law, who previously was a drummer that switched to bass to play in the band.
I wish him luck in whatever he's doing now!
