I just noticed on my 25th that my neck humbucker has the coil with the screw heads toward the bridge of the guitar, same as the bridge bucker. When I look at most pictures of the chrome buckers, the neck has the coil with the screws toward the neck of the guitar.

Is my neck pickup installed backwards? Would it make a difference in sound? I've not looked at how it's wired at the switch, but I wonder if I've not actually been getting the coil configuration that I thought I was. I have no complaints about the tones I'm getting, just wondering if instead of 1 & 4 and 2 & 3 I'm getting 1 & 3 and 2 & 4 from switch positions 2 and 4? I don't think it would make any difference in 1 3 and 5 positions. Also wondering if would change what I'm getting from the series/parallel?

I bought the guitar brand new from a company that rhymes with Sitar Splinter.

The screws should be on the outside coils for the 25th, Reflex, AL HH, 20th Anny Silo, and Axis.

Give MM customer service a call tomorrow 866-823-2255 and they will advise you further!

It is possible that the pickup was wired correctly and then either installed backwards in the pickup ring or someone monkeyed with it, or someone may have swapped in a different pickup.

If it is the original pickup and has simply been rotated then it's a simple fix to rotate it back if no wiring has been messed with.

Also, if the wiring is correct then you are getting the correct coils in series/parallel and all toggle positions, it is just that the coils have been rotated so the sound will differ ever so slightly.

Hmm, that's a bit odd. I looked at mine and its reversed like the others with the screws on neck humbucker towards the neck and the bridge towards the bridge. Although to be honest I don't know if it would make a difference in sound since it would still be running series/parallel and also splitting when you are in position 2 and 4

^ Yeah beej. I'm going to take a look inside of it tonight and see how it's wired to the switch. I've been wanting to throw some Cobalts on there anyway, so a good opp to mess around with her a bit.

Just did some tapping on coils to figure out what was going on. Turns out the wiring is correct, but the pickup is definately backwards, so I'm not getting coils 1 & 4 and 2 & 3. I am getting 1 & 3 and 2 & 4....which would explain why there is not a big difference in sound b/w switch position 2 and 4.

Gonna flip the pickup tonight, hopefully the wires weren't cut too short to flip it.

Do you think it left SLO like this? I guess anything is possible.

Hard to imagine that it did, but who knows. I'd still probably call CS and hip them to this. They'd want to know if something left the factory like that, or if somebody at said store flipped the pickup, etc.

When i bought my PRS single cut it had the same problem , it was the bridge pup that was installed the wrong way round .
In the case was two sheets of paper both with signatures saying the guitar was QC checked . When i contacted the dealer they were amazed that the guitar had been allowed to leave the factory . No big deal really just human error.

I just took it back to the dealer and they flipped it round the right way , definitly made a diference in the sound..

PS: I played a gig with this guitar last night. Man, these are FANTASTIC guitars to play live. So comfortable and they sound huge on all settings. I felt bad for the second guitarist at times.
