Hey guys,

I'm Franky and I would like to buy a JPX, but I wanted to get some question answered before that. Would be really nice =)

1.
I read that it comes with gauge 10 strings, but I actually play gauge 9, can I change it just like that?

2.
Can I tune the guitar down like Drop D?
(Actually 1. and 2. are kind of related, aren' they? =D)

3.
Is it an active guitar? The little black thing under the big black thing where the screws are looks like the thing for the battery
(Sorry, said thing a lot)

4. (Not so important now)
How do I do that with the two cables for the magnetic and the Piezo pickups?

Thanks in advance,

Franky

You can put 9's on it.

Yes

2. Can I tune the guitar down like Drop D?

Yes

3. Is it an active guitar? The little black thing under the big black thing where the screws are looks like the thing for the battery

It's not active, those are just covers for the switches and trem cavity

4. How do I do that with the two cables for the magnetic and the Piezo pickups?

You can run one to the PA (or amp) and the other to an amp.

With gauge 9 strings and with drop D tuning, you'll have to adjust the trem claw screws and possible the truss rod. This is because it is a floating tremolo system, and changing the string tension will change the bridge height.

Really? Then I hope I do it right =D
I mean I'm a bit afraid of the high E string smacking me right in the face...^^

Nah, I mean, don't agressively yank them, I pull up and inch of so, move side to side a bit, tune up, pull some more etc. I have an Ibanez JS with a floyd, believe me I can change strings on the JP in a few minutes, stretch, tune, stretch tune faster than I can begin to remove the hardware on the JS.
