Have been plaing fender and ibanez ever since I was about 14, in my late twenties now and am thinking about ordering a Pet model. I keep hearing such good things about this model. I've just played mainly Ibanez for so long, I'm not sure how the neck is going to feel as far as thickness and whatnot. Anyone who has went from Ibanez to the Pet model, how was the transition? :) Any comments would be greatly appreciated!! I know it's all personal preference and it boils down to individuallity, but I'm just looking for the general concensus here. Thanks guys.

Mikeyg,

I played Ibanez Wizard and Wizard-II necks for 10 years or more before I bought my EBMM Petrucci.

Since I got the Pet, I sold one Ibby and the other one has only left its case to sit on a guitar stand as an emergency backup at gigs. (Anyone want to buy it? S370 in Deep Violet Flat) ;))

The transition is an easy one, and you won't be going back. Enjoy your Petrucci.. it is worth the wait.

Awesome!! Just what I was wanted to hear! I will be ordering it on saturday. :) BTW did you find yourself playing a little faster/cleaner on it initially? Is the action really low?

mikeyg, welcome to the board! Glad that you've came out from the "dark side" of the Force.

:)

So you're ordering Saturday? Awesome...you're running circles around SOME of us (*sound of whistling*) that are taking time to do our thing here.

(NOTE: Read some more of the forum, and you'll see the guy that we're egging on to push him forward...all in good fun, though.)

Welcome, nonetheless, and hang around and become part of the family!

*koogs, I'll let you finish up here...I'm fresh out of nickels. :)

It probably took me a week or so to learn to avoid hitting the pickup selector switch. My action is low but not insanely low.. I like it where it is. I think I do play a little faster on this due to the comfortable position of my picking hand thanks to the body contour.

My fingers hurt a little for the first week or so until I got used to the heavier fret wire (mostly my pinky.. I think I needed to learn to play it with a lighter touch). But now I can play this guitar for hours on end without getting fatigued thanks to all the great ergonomic features.

I have an Ibby, but it has been in it's case for about 2 years now. I keep it only for sentimental reasons.....I have 3 JP's...what does that tell ya!
