I'm sitting here learning another song for my new band (Barney Miller theme...hey, we've got a full horn section!) and I didn't want to bother with rigging up anything, so I just sat down with the chart and my Bongo.
Playing unamplified for the first time in a while reminded me of something that has been said here before, but not mentioned in some time...and it might be useful to the newbies.
To wit:
A bass that sounds good unplugged will sound great amplified.
My Bongo sounds not only good, but great unplugged. It has a really "live" resonance to it. You can feel it as you play.
Good gracious me, what a fantastic instrument!
