Nut height seems fine on mine. For me, the neck pocket still isn't quite right, but it's definitely playable now after a shim.
The pickups in the Axis are honestly one of the best matched sets out there, and were made specifically to work with the EVH / Axis. There's an article out there on the Dimarzio website describing the development process, which resulted in a lot of techniques that were later used in other Dimarzio pickups, such as the "Dual Resonance" and "air" style magnet configuration. Just a great and versatile set of pickups.
