Today I met up with a buddy of mine and ended up trading my Prestige Ibanez RG for his (93-94?) Silhouette with a Floyd. I've never really liked the Silo's much because of the chunkier neck, but this thing has super low action, and just feels amazing. Its got a SD JB Jr. in the bridge, a stock middle pickup, and a SD Little 59 in the neck. I think it was a great trade, especially since this thing will be a nice partner for my Koa JP when it gets here. Its got the old style neck plate with the old logo, not the current Ernie Ball neck plate. Does anyone have any idea what year this is possibly from? I'm gonna post in the serial number thread anyway, just figured I'd ask. Here are some pics:

that's a nice one. Ive recently been reacquainted w/ my silo and am loving it.

Highly considering getting a new pickguard and going SSS w/ it too :)

Silo's rule!

Thanks Arin. Yeah, this one's pretty sweet. I love the way the JB Jr. sounds in the bridge. Did these originally come S/S/S with a Floyd or were they originally only H/S/H with the Floyd?

Silos with the 6 screw neck plate are probably in the late 80's early to mid 90's vintage. Of course, to know for sure you could post up the serial number for CS to research it for ya, or email them with the question.

Since the early Silos had the advertised feature of having plug in pickguards, allowing the owner to have a choice in pickup configuration, it could have come with any of the configs. Again, CS could tell you how it left the factory.

Cheers and cool Silo! :)

yup, exactly. the silos had (do they still have it?) the molex connector dealio so it could have come SSS from the factory.

Im guessing it did come SSS due to the fact that it's been modded with the JR pups. i dont see why anyone would ditch an HSH setup and get an SS PG and install JR's into it.

how's she sound? The JB's are pretty great and I've added a lil 59 to my axis sport (in the neck position) and am very fond of that pickup.

that´s nice, congratulations.
My now sold 93 silo had 5-bolt neck.. so I think yours must be older. Didnt they make 5-bolt-necks since the introduction of EVH, around '91?

Thanks, Colin. I would play one first. If you like it buy it. Haha. The cleans are great and the gain is just brutal.

It looks like he has the 5 bolt neck. I think he means that the neckplate is recessed and has the old Music Man logo. I have a Silo with the Floyd- I love it!

It does have the 5 bolt neck, but the neck plate is not recessed. It does however have the old MusicMan logo.
