Hi everybody in here,
after quite some time as a passive user/reader of this forum I finally managed to get myself an account (thanks Aaron for unbanning my email address
).
I started playing guitar 'bout 24 years ago, went from acoustics/classics to electrics 7 years after and spent some time in teenage rock bands jammin' and giggin' around town. Afterwards somehow let things slide when starting to work and almost stopped for 5 years... shame on me...
Quite some time ago now I started back out again and somehow got in touch with a fantastic tech in the area (hi MICK !
). He serviced my vintage Ibanez Musician and I bought a midsize combo amp at his. It was there that I first got in serious touch with EBMM guitars as Mick owns a "few" and let me try his Silo.
Now this is where normally the Koogster comes into play - y'all know that "welcome" thing...
However I came across an early nineties beat up Silhouette Special on ebay that obviously noone wanted to buy. Purple in colour, PLEK processed, but completely worn down, really messy non-original electronics and PUs of some dance-music professional guitarist. ONE BIG MESS !
Jon helped find the production date (thanks again) and Mick and I planned a complete makeover for my new babe:
- new frets (originals - had been changed to jumbo before...)
- new neck finish
- new MOONSTONE pickguard that perfectly fits this guitar (thank you so much Beth for making this possible - there's nothing fitting this guitar better !!!)
- 2 Kinman Hx single coils for neck & middle
- 1 DiMarzio ToneZone for the bridge
- a few hardware parts exchanged...
Now this DID cost money and DID take time, but all that was well worth while as this babe DOES produce fantastic tones and could not be better worn in after over 13 years of extensive playing...
In other words: I have found MY guitar
...some time later the word spread in Germany that EBMM were stopping producing the SUB1 line and a big dealer over here sold out some 1 HB TREM versions for 499.00 Euros WHICH IS A STEAL for these guitars as it's half the normal price. I could not resist the temptation and bought one without ever having played or even seen one... I was absolutely blown away when it arrived as I did not expect THAT much of a quality guitar at that price. WOW !
I'm really sorry that they had to go out of production...
...but whoohoo, lucky me I got one of the last
I'm attaching some pics of my 2 babes as this seems a nice tradition here:
...now I'll stop bugging you with my stuff for the moment.
Just let me say that I'm very happy finally being here to share the EBMM experience with you all. Thanks for the great time I already had with you, and moreover the time yet to come
Rogg Onn !
