Last night was the first night I used my new Stingray Classic for a live performance. It was a great except one thing. I noticed that the D and G strings had a lower output level than the E and A strings. And that the pole pieces that cover the D and G strings were much lower than the E and A strings. So the questions before the forum are:

To help the output levels be even for all strings should I

A. Raise up the whole pickup on the D and G string side.

or

B. Leave the pickup at it's hieght and raise just the pole pieces on the D and G strings. And if this is the case how do I do that?

I'm not sure if we can post prices here but you can order a Classic serie bass at your favorite EBMM dealer. They all offer them.

(You can PM me for the price or just ask your dealer)

If you raise the pole pieces you could destroy the pickup, I have done it and Have had good results but I removed the pickup and used a Press and went very slow, but By tapping them with a Mallet could ruin the pickup, So I'd raise the G & D side of the pickup.

I just checked my '77 Stingray and the new classic 'ray on the EBMM site. Both have the A & D poles raised. The E & G pole pieces are lower.
So, it should be:
E low
A high
D high
G low
I'd call customer service. It looks to me that the pole pieces on yours aren't right.
