Adjusting the truss rod

hello,
when i adjust the truss rod, do i also have to adjust the bridge saddles or any other part of the bass? i have a stingray.

If you want to raise or lower the action a bit you can ajust the truss rod and it will react. If your bass is really off the mark in terms of playability
then you may check the saddles and truss rod.

Hey Dereek
In another thread, a few of us discussed the importance of loosening the strings before adjusting the truss rod. I've heard everything from "you must reomve the string and let the neck adjust for at least a day before re-tuning the bass" to "it doesn't matter". What's the official EB word on that issue?

well, i actually called the ernie ball repair service line yesterday and a representative told me to adjust the truss rod. when i asked whether or not i had to loosen the strings, he said no.

Thanks Kenny. On the other basses I have or have had over the years, it's been necessary to loosen the strings, at least the A and D strings, in order to be able to turn the rod but with the MMs that's not necessary which made me think about what the real reason behind loosening the strings is.

I agrre with basscat, but yah know, i still think that if you loosen your strings you get slightly better results. I found it easier to dial in my exact preference with the strings loosened. But then again, the more you tighten and loosen you strings the more likely the will break. I say that from experiance.. but it depends how much you play, and allot of other things. that's jsut my take on it all.
