Basswood and mahogany are my favorite woods. It's a tie for me.

Mahogany tone block in a basswood body = the ultimate tone combo, IMHO.

Chambering makes it that much better.

Don't forget the maple top. There are two very expensive guitar brands out there who's creaters both say that Basswood plus maple top is the ultimate combo! EB has been doin it for years already then as when you add the tone block which you already mentioned and the chambers oh boy. I need a guitar in HSS with this would combo (And no I am not asking for a 25th in HSS)but the more I play my ASS the more I am digging basswood.
