Wow a 10 year old thread back to life! I was still in school when this thread started, dreaming to be able to study, play and teach music for a living when I get out of school

Now I'm 25 and working as a Construction Manager doing landscape works.

44 Accountant....I know, not to Rock & Roll sounding. Boring repetitive job. The highlight of your day is finding somebody else's mistake. I dream so much about a music-related career...I even interviewed at Sam Ash but the $$ was lousy. Wish to God I could do something music related.

You sir........ Kick Ass!!!! Thank you for your service to our country!

Thanks Eric! I'm proud of my service but it was more of a privilege than a hardship. On the other hand I'm constantly awed by the people that make up our world (American and otherwise) who support the people who serve.

I really dig learning about the different journeys that people take through life. Yet we all share a commonality! Love this thread

It would be cool if someone who commented 10 yrs ago quoted their old post and then caught us up on the last 10 yrs!

I did post a long time ago. Been on the forum here for close on 10 years.

Now aged 59. I’ve worked for HMRC for the last 37 years. Started at the coal face d/w people’s tax then moved up into training tax to new and existing staff. Moved up again and became a Business analyst, working with all grades in the department applying Lean and 6 sigma principles. Travel around a lot and I get to meet lots of interesting people and get to play in the local bars. Had opportunities to move up again but can’t abide all the people management shenanigans and because of wage freezes the move up again would just not be worth it.

3 years to go until I sail into the sunset, when I intend to buy a Delorean in the States and work on it and enjoy it.

Also play in a local band and spend every Saturday afternoon around my Luthier mates workshop when I get to offload all the free tea/coffee/sugar/biscuits that I picked up in the hotels, along with a slice of me mam’s Welsh Cake. We talk “guitars” and I get to see all “that week’s guitars” awaiting pickup or repair. I learn a hell of a lot from him. Occasionally he plays on tour and we get to here all the goss from him.

Here's my original post from 10 years ago...

"43... IT Security Officer and Executive Director of Communications and Networking for the University of MD Baltimore campus, also part-time operator of family owned taxi service. Re-married last February, 5 kids (hence taxi service) between me and my lovely, very understanding wife . Sunporch guitar hack."

At 53 I'm still working at the University of MD Baltimore as Chief Information Security Officer, I'm going on 29 years in November. I went back to school at 49 and got my Master's Degree in Cybersecurity, in addition to the 5 kids we now have 2 grandsons born 3 weeks apart who turned 1 in June. They are a lot of fun.

Kim's enjoying being a grandmother, staying home and watching one of them while our daughter works. And I'm still hacking away on my guitars, wishing my playing ability matched my ability to afford really nice gear.

Remember to keep me in mind when you're looking for that DeLorean. I still see them in sizable amounts here in sunny SoCal. I'm sure we can find you a nice one. :)

Having been a Master Mechanic in your past life, I'm sure you know what to look for. Will you do a full setup on it as well? :)

I didn't partake 10 years ago, but like the idea of doing so now;

I am 29 years old and currently a Flight Services Coordinator for a charter airline. I'm pretty much the point of contact with the aircraft owners - my responsibilities include planning and making arrangements for the aircraft and the client so that the flight itself (and any needed services) are set up appropriately, and are therefore able to go smoothly and without delays or hiccups.

Always interested in seeing any current ads that will give me a trend of the prices?
