I wasn't really trying to get close to EVH's tone... I was trying to find a fast, good replacement for an Axis's stock bridge pickup.
Anyways, time and $$ dictated that I go with an Air Zone. Thanks to all for the help.

i'll receive the 36th anniversary neck and bride today or tomorow for my old axis
i put this just because orginal pickups can't be splitted
i tell you how they sound as soon as possible

I wouldn't necessarily associate Andy Timmons's tone with EVH's, but the Dimarzio AT-1 pickup has specs similar to the Air Zone (on paper, at least).
Can anyone comment how the AT-1 compares tone-wise to some of the pickups mentioned in this thread?

Okay this post was the wrong one to click on first since I just woke up, as I am clicking on Ebay auctions that do not exist and was surprised to see that Doug (azazal) was back on the forum and then finally realized the post is a year old lol.
