Hello everyone,
I am going to trade some guitars at my local GC this weekend to pick up an AL HH that I played the last time I was in the store. I'm going to buy the guitar regardless, but I'm wondering about the pickups that are in it? What are the stock pups on the AL HH closest to in terms of other pickups? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Yep, same pickups as the Axis, but the AL HH sounds thicker and meatier thanks to the mahogony body and rosewood neck. Wonderful stuff wood!

So, are you saying that they aren't as bright in the AL HH? I found them to be entirely too bright for my taste in the axis. I forget the effects of different woods on tone, but I thought that mahogany gave guitars a darker tone? Thanks for the input, by the way!

The pickups are the same, the wood has an effect on the brightness. Yes the mahogony/rosewood combo makes the overall tone darker/warmer/richer in the Albert HH.

The Axis is brighter due to the basswood/maple cap/maple neck combo.

FWIW, Billy in Customer Service told me the the pups in the ALHH are close to the DiMarzio Tone Zone (bridge) and Air Norton (neck). They're not exactly the same, but close. To me, they sound pretty close to the BurstBucker Pros in my Les Paul Studios, with a little more output. I like 'em a lot! When I first got my ALHH a month or so ago, I thought about swapping the pups for something with less output, but I've decided not to do that. For now. :D

The covers do definitely calm them. I had an AL HH and now have an Axis tribute and the pickups sound very differently in the Axis, much more aggressive. To be honest I traded the AL for the Axis because I felt it lacked punch.
