Hi Guys,
I have been enjoying my AL MM90 for a while but I think it could use a beefier bridge pickup.
What has anoyine ever swapped into the bridge?
I have a Rio Grande Bluesbar sitting around and was thinking about swapping it in.
I don't have an answer for you on the pickups, but I was wondering if you could help with a question. I'm in the market for a P90 guitar, the Albert Lee is quite appealing, how would you describe the tone you get from that guitar with the P90s?
Do I have to route anything to install a DLX?
Edit:
After rooting around, I have a Dimarzio DLX Plus (DP-154), two Yamaha Q100s which are some DLX variation,
A Rio Grande Blues Bar and a Bill Lawrence L-560.
OK, after measuring everything, It looks like I need to route the bridge pup cavity about .100 to .125".
The DLX IS deeper than the MM90.
Since this would require bridge removal to make a clean job with my router, I just shimmed the MM90 up some more.
This made quite a positive difference. I think I am happy with it.
So the DLX is going back in the drawer.....
Adjustments make quite a difference with the MM90s. I wish they were suspended from the pickguard like the Reverends used to be.
