Question AL vs. Axis Sport Neck Comparison

the axis (standard, sport & super sport) all have an asymmetrical neck shape... so they have a "shoulder" to them.
So if you're 100% into a C shape the Axis may not be for you which makes the Albert Lee the winner. However - its totally possibly that you'll love the axis neck shape like a lot of us do.

.... If you are anywhere near Manchester, Connecticut, go to Beller's (a Dubaldo store) or Dubaldo's and check out the line. I did that yesterday and learned a TON!!! I was able to compare a silo, silo spec, AL, JP, Axis, Morse and a Luke (some were BFR's). There are huge differences from one to another. Pete helped me figure out why some guitars "bug" me and why some seem right. I was looking to perhaps get a Y2d or maybe a silo and came away realizing that the Axis alone fits me 100%.
I don't know of any other place that has that wide of EBMM selection. I've never seen more than 2 in any store before this visit.

The AL neck is C shaped but is slightly narrower at the nut than a classic 60's strat neck 41mm vs42mm and the radius is slightly flatter (10" vs 7.5") if that is what you're comparing it to. The Axis Super Sport and Silhouette/ Silhouette Special both have the same nut width and radius as the Albert but, as phatty mentioned the Axis has an asymmetrical carved C and the Silo/Spec C is slightly shallower to my hands than the Albert.

Thanks to all for the information. I should clarify that I have an Axis Sport and really like the neck shape. I was hoping that the AL or perhaps the Silo Special (really want 22 fret hard tail) might have a similar neck to the Axis Sport. Unfortunately, where I live we do not have many (hardly any) MM dealers, so I am enlisting the facts/thoughts/opinions of the forum to help me choose. Thanks again for the info!

AL's are the ultimate blues machines, I've done A/B's with every custom shop strat in a 300 mile radius from my place (All 16 of them) and AL's win every time, jut my opinion but the AL tone cannot be beat.
Plus you get to join the ALOC -what more could anyone want??

Smelly ive done the same too, and i have to say the custom strats ive played in shops just feel like $10 squiers compared to the luxurious playability and tone of the AL, and thats just the standard AL- the BFR AL just takes it to a VERY high level. Just a classy classy axe.

Hey nice guitar, I really think you would like the AL, i have an ASS and Al's, both feel great and AL necks are so easy to play, hopefully you can find one to try and welcome to the forum

I have an Axis and have played and compared it to the AL neck. I prefer the Axis neck mostly due to the asymmetrical shape as mentioned above but the Al neck was awesome, close in thickness to the Axis neck, and if that was the only neck EBMM offered I would be happy with that as well.
To me the asymmetrical shape of the Axis neck makes it unique among other guitars.

Thanks to MbGreene for posting those AL neck profiles - they are a bit rough and ready but gives you an idea.
You will love an AL you will love a Silo and you would love an Axis.
For Strat tones (and more) an AL or a Silo I'd say.
