The instrument has a pulse and all the controls work as they should. Tyler will put it though its paces tomorrow when there isn't a sleeping child in the house. Preliminary quiet goofing around on the amp here at the house suggests great results may be forthcoming after a little tweaking around and adjusting the pole pieces on the JB Jr.

This is neato! I did a pickup swap on a guitar, and it WORKED!

nice work benben...see you tomorrow...when i wake up.

As much as I hate to disagree with a fellow ALOC member (and a superior at that!) the SD booster and the BB will not do the same thing. What's funny is that those 2 pedals are all I have left in my chain right now - and they actually compliment each other very well. As much as I dig the BB, it will never give you that HB tone that Duncan Pickup Booster will - ever. Whatever Duncan did with that resonance thingy - well - it's incredible!

And as far as the BB - well - I know where a lot of Timmons tone has come from - that pedal is musical & magical. I've never heard another like it. Just awesome!

So yeah - get the SD booster AND the BB - you will be set for some amazing tones!!!

:)

Here's a new link for that clip:

The playing is poor, but the tone is what I was going for. 2nd song. Enjoy!

Hey Norrin - I just seen this !!

Now fall to the floor and give me 50 .... ... lol!!

The SD pickup booster was ever soo nice - but he's a good mate of mine and shucks he ... ... ... begged me for it!!!

In the demo of the BB, it's mentioned that it will give a clean DB boost - but hell man, your the boss on this one. I may have to beg it back when I get my BB (or BB plus) ... ... or do I need the AC plus????

Hell if I need a HB I may well have to get the 3 pickup LP custom out

Now back to business - Tyler whats the lowdown on the mod - can you upload some sound bites please??

Y'know ... I wrote that a few times and just couldn't bring myself to post it. Nice work Mike.

Hey Spud- the RC is much better as a clean boost. The BB adds it's own flavour as a boost. I love both.

Yep - right on the money. The RC will boost for you but does not color your tone AT ALL! The AC is basically a very very nice version of a Tubescreamer - albeit much nicer and musical to my ears. I still don't want one though - that's just not my bag. The BB does add it's own flavour BUT it will also boost either cleanly (gain turned all the way down) or like a distortion (gain turned up). I mostly use mine with gain about 1/2 way. I also toy with the EQ on it (a great idea on a boost!) and usually set them with the treble at 1:00 and the bass around 12:00 (12:00 is the default position).

The Xotic stuff is just spectacular - I don't know about their "plus" series yet as I haven't seen them in a store or messed with them. But the 3 basic pedals (AC, RC & BB) can cover ALL your OD needs for sure, ESPECIALLY if you already dig the basic distortion tone out of your amp.

Hey Beej
Thanks for the info - I'm kinda leaning towards the AC or the RC after falling in love with the BB.
- but if I want to pursue this I'd better turn this into a separate thread.

I'll try to figure out how to get some sound clips recorded and posted where you guys can hear it in the next few days.

Even if Tyler isn't man enough to wield the AL properly :D , I have been playing it all night and I really like it. Even though I really SUCK at guitar. I still like it.

I tried to use the onboard mic on my iMac to record some samples, but, to be frank, it sounded like two-day-old, warmed-over feces. I don't need any help sounding crappy with a guitar in my hands, thank you very much.

I need suggestions for a good, cheap audio interface for my iMac to record a bass and guitar into Garage Band.

Help!

I like it, but the neck of my old Axis Sport seemed more comfortable to my bass-playing hands.

This pickup combination really puts a smile on my face, though. I'll take it back to Tyler tomorrow and let him play it through his arsenal of noisemakers.
