Some background:

Let me preface this by saying that I didn't realize until this afternoon that a Guitar Center recently opened up about 5 miles down the road from where I work. I guess I should also mention that where I work is about a 60mile commute from home, so I really don't stay too informed of all the going-ons in the community around work.

Being from a smaller area, we've never had a music store chain. My favorite local mom & pop shop became a EBMM dealer 2-3 years ago and they've had some good stuff come through. But again, being from a smaller area they don't keep multiple $1500+ instruments on the shelf because frankly...they don't know how soon they'll sell. Case in point...they have a fabulous looking Stingray 5 hanging on the wall that was probably one of the first instruments they received after becoming a MM dealer (2-3 years ago).

I'm not bashing them by any means. However, it doesn't bode well for Knuckleheads like me that are jonesing for a new Music Man and want to get some hands on time with a specific model. The only option prior to now was hitting the road and heading to Nashville or Birmingham.

Wow...that was long.

So I've been really wanting to try out an Albert Lee HH lately. I was browsing the GC Platinum site and noticed that they had one in stock...right down the road at the store that I didn't even know existed! I went over and tried it out on my lunch break. Wow. As subject title says I'm late to the game on this, but are those not the most freakin' awesome?!? Let the savings officially begin! Just not sure which color to get...

So in summary, HH AL rocks, love the mom & pop stores, but GC selection is definitely nothing to snub your nose at.

Oh yeah...they had Cobalts in stock. Will be going back tomorrow to grab a couple of packs. :D

1. HH ALs rule.

2. Cobalts are awesome.

Good luck with the saving! The easy (or hard, I guess) part about getting an HH AL is that they look good in all the available colors. Although, if I was ordering it'd be Walnut, hands down.

I bought one last month with a tremolo in Surf Green or Seafoam Green with the white pearled pick guard. I love it. The neck is amazing being solid rosewood. The tone is absolutely awesome! I liked it so much I bought a second one last week. I got a non-trem version. I couldn't imagine being on a gig and breaking a string and not having a backup Albert Lee HH to play. I had to buy a second one. It is a sunburst with a tortoise shell pick guard.

I own around 30 guitars. These are by far my favorite. I found the first one on accident while shopping for a Les Paul. It was right next to the Les Paul in the store and I had to play it. The green color and odd shape caught my eye. Then the neck blew me away. The tone was better than the LP and it had great Fender out of phase tones as well. Unbelievable! Thank you Music Man for the best guitars I have even owned.

Welcome Danjo! Your guitars don't exist without pictures!

GoKart, I can't wait for your review of the cobalts!

I bought a set today and put them on my Luke after the kiddies went to bed. Didn't get a chance to crank up one of my amps loud and do much playing yet though. As others have mentioned, the feel is definitely noticeable straight out of the pack. When playing with the piezo system on, I definitely noticed that notes rang out more clearly.
