Albert Lee HH & SSS Neck Swap

I put the D Allen JohnnyBlades in my AL... Completely changed that guitar, it got rid of the "dark" sound you mentioned with the rosewood neck.

Yep. They really sound great. 500K pot helped too. I also added a series/parallel push/pull switch to the bridge p-up to get some tele and more strat tones. I may add another one to the neck pickup to see what that does.

I screwed up, I meant to say JohnnyBuckers... I put D Allen's Johnny Hiland Humbuckers in the AL, they were a perfect match for the mahogany body and rosewood neck.

Blades in the Silo, buckers in the AL...

It's a bummer the all-rosewood neck is available on so little models.
I'd love to get a rosewood neck silo special (preferably with black satin finish, oh God...), but I can only find the guitar center ones and I'm not keen of the colour options on these.

My plan is to do this with a BFR AL at some point... Just need to pull that trigger when money isn't so tight and like the OP how do you choose which one of your guitars to get rid of? Guess I'm gonna have to wait until
Ball #5 comes along or something...

Love your maple AL HH! Looks killer. I sold my AL HH to buy my Axis Tribute because I felt the AL was too mellow. The AL is one of the two guitars I have ever regretted selling. If you ever decide to sell your AL with the maple neck on let me know.

Couldn't decide, so I kept them both!

For now, I swapped the rosewood back onto the Al HH because I added the TV Jones Filtertrons. Glad I kept them both.
