Hello all,

Had some questions concerning the differences between an Albert Lee HH and a Luke 3 HH. Both have full rosewood necks. Can anyone tell me the differences between the two necks? I am sure someone in this forum owns both to do an A/B comparison. I have played an AL and so I know what that feels like. Is the Luke 3 thicker or thinner?

Next would be the pickups. Any input for differences? Are the Luke 3 buckers hotter? I've played the AL and they sound nice for a blues/rock vibe. In fact, they were really nice. How do the Luke pick ups differ? I know the AL is an african mahogany but I am not sure what kind of wood the LUKE 3 is. I was eyeing up the sunburst Luke 3. Any ideas between weight also? The AL is so light and I love that.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Thank youl

I don't know if they change their necks much, but you can always check out the website. I did recently when I wanted to see the main differences between an Albert Lee and a Luke.

I just got the Albert Lee. I prefer the Luke neck (but I think it's because I'm used to it).

From what I gathered, the frets are different (iirc the luke is low-wide and the AL is medium-wide) and so it the contour. Scale is the same (25.5)

Hope that helped.

Luke is V-shaped neck, will feel quite different to the AL. BTW, the LIII were all-rosewood in the beginning, then Luke decided he preferred the roasted and so production changed to match. Of course there was the recent short ordering window for any instrument with the all-rosewood neck, so you will find some rosewood necked LIIIs out there.

Thanks for the info. I believe from the pics I saw, it should be the full rosewood neck.
Hmmmm, a V neck profile? Not sure if that's the guitar for me.

Can anyone answer how does the AL compare to a Silhouette neck?

Not all Silhouettes are created equally.
I have two Silhouettes obviously from my screen pic. The necks differ. One is slimmer than the other. One has larger frets where as the other has smaller frets. I went to a local guitar shop and checked a Silhouette out and the neck was HUGE compared to my two Silos.
I've never even played a Silo Special but I am reconsidering that after playing the AL with 22 frets.
