I'm looking to add a humbucker to the bridge position of my AL MM90. How would I incorporate that while retaining the 4th position sound by splitting the 'bucker.

Thanks,

Jason

not sure I understand your question.
With that said, there is a cat out of Oregon (I believe) that sells a p-90 sized humbucker.
I had them for a PRS. Pretty good. Good prices and the guy was very cool.
Vintage Vibe was the name, if I remember correctly.
Hope this helps.

P90 sized humbuckers are readily available from all the big pickup names, Dimarzio has loads. If you want to split it look for a "4-wire" version.

Don't know where you are situated - Shed pickups in the UK will supply you with a bucker to fit a MM90 case. He will make the pickup to your spec. I can't speak too highly of Shed pickups who supplies the "big boys" with restoration pickups.

couple of forumites did it on theirr Axis Super Sport MM90 but I think it requieres a bit of work as the MM90 cavity is not deep enough to accept an Humbucker in MM90 dimension

Hey Jason- I responded to your PM with some specific info. Splitting it isn't a big deal, you just need to be conscious of using the Silent Circuit if you want noise cancellation in that position.

Hey guys.... I'm still working at it. I was more concerned about the wiring schem than the choice of pup. I already found a soapbar pup to pop in and have had the joy of routing out the MM90 today to fit it. Thankfully I haven't screwed anything up... yet. :) I picked up a GFS Dream 180 "soapbar". I've got a full sized 180 in a 'Paul of mine and love the punch. Now that I've retired the Paul(do to 40 year old frets), I'd like to pass on the responsibility of melting faces to my newly acquired MM90.

As far as wiring goes, my goal is to have the 5-way with silent circuit on positions 1-3, have 4 silenced by the combo of the middle with a coil off of the 'bucker, and 5 to be 'bucker all the way.... no silent circuit needed for 'obvious' reasons.

Notice I make no mention of a push/pull. It's 'cause I don't want one... even though it'd make this all easier.

Thanks to Beej for the detailed info. And thanks to everyone for chiming in. I'll keep you all posted when I'm done.
