Albert Lee Questions

Does the AL model really get both Strat and Tele type sounds out of it? I'm selling my Axis SS (photos in the for sale thread) and I'm thinking I might want an AL or maybe a Silo SSS.
I've played an AL, but, just for a few minutes and not plugged in. I liked the feel of it, but I'm not sure about that shape, I hate neck heavy guitars. Does it balance like a strat with a strap on it?
I'm thinking I would want a trem to keep the strat thing going, but I think I want something a little different and I think I would like a Tele also, so would the AL cover both grounds?

The AL sure does do the tele thing better than the Silo Special, and it is very comfortable with a strap when standing up! I wouldnt say the AL is neck heavy at all. Naturally the AL does the strat tones superbly.

My Albert pretty much does the strat and tele things pretty well. Mine has the tremolo which I love. The middle pickup by itself has a neat "vibe" also. The Albert is the most comfortable guitar to play that I own....... not neck heavy... it sits right where it should. (wish my Luke 1 were as comfortable to play standing up)

Thanks for the replies! One thing I forgot to ask: Is the switch wired so you can get neck and bridge pickups together? I know it has the plate on the bottom of the bridge pickup. The bridge/neck combo is a cool sound on a strat, so I think that would make the AL sound that much more tele-ish. Thanks, Steve

Stock, it has standard strat wiring, so no bridge - neck combo. This could be easily remedied with one of those Superswitches.

The AL is extremely well balanced and comfortable to play, which is part of the design. So many players, after their initial reaction, change their tune after picking it up and playing it.
Don't judge a book by its cover or a guitar by its slightly pointy yet ultimately unique and retro cool visage.

You can get both the strat and tele sounds (used as basis for comparison only) out of an AL. Remember, Mr. Lee was THE tele player for years and the reason so many country players such as Brad Paisley got into that guitar. You'd think with his own vast catalogue to cover he'd occasionally want his current guitar to set up similarly to his former. But this also goes to the argument that Albert will sound like Albert, no matter what he's playing.

There is no Bridge neck combo available in the current switching scheme but it could probably be wired up as has been referenced.
