Does anyone have any experience with changing pickup on an AL ? With the "Silent Circuit", will any of the "strat" pickups work? Thanks.

Best bet would be to shoot over to www.ernieball.com and look for the phone number and give a call to customer service. I have heard that the silent circuit does not work with other pickups....but I could be wrong.

I've added a silent circuit to an Albert, but not tried swapping out the pickups. Pretty sure you could use it for any other set, provided they were evenly balanced. The middle pickup is reverse-wound like most SSS setups so you'll want to keep that in mind when wiring them up.

They nail that vintage strat vibe with the tele bridge sound. Are you thining about moving to something more modern? Then might be worth looking at a noiseless set (of which there are a few good ones) and you won't need to worry about the silent circuit at all.

I hear that I really like the F----- Hot Noiseless Set :D

the best set I have ever heard is a Van Zandt set, those were incredible sounding

+1 !! They're one of the nicest sets of single coils I've ever played... And my Albert predates the Silent Circuit, so I have to put up with the noise!! Of course, my drummer's pretty noisey, and so's my band, so it doesn't matter much... ;)

I love the sound of the AL p'ups. Just wanted to try something a little hotter. Probably won't..... no need to mess up a good thing.

I've done 2 pickup changes to my AL. First was a set of Rio Grande pickups (Stelly and Tallboys).

Lost all the soul and chime. Removed them 2 weeks later.

Second was a SD Twangbanger in the bridge.

Lost all the mojo in the bridge position. Removed 2 weeks later.

Make sure you keep the original pickups when you do this. I think you'll find that they are a perfect match for the instrument.
