I've been 6 months out of a band and feeling kinda sulky about it. Difficult at the mo to form a band due to my work yadda yadda.

So an old friend - vocalist, harp player phones me in the day and says
"Will pick you up at 8:30, drive 15 miles down the road to a Pub that hosts a jam night - no excuses!!!"

So at the last minute I decide to take my guitar (BCB Albert) with me.

I know a few faces - not many - not my Manor/Hood - it's kind of a rough place but evertyhings cool - and I've played rougher.

A few players kick off proceedings and I'm asked if I would go on at 9:45 and do something.
So the young guns are in town getting their strats/teles out along with some "old heads" also with Strats /Teles - no Les Pauls though?
Mines in my case - safe n sound. So I get the wink and I open my case, plug into a Roland Cube provided - check the tunning, dial in some dirt and turn the amp up (a lot!) and back the guitar off on the volume. - no pedals.

I played 3 / 4 numbers by myself and then was joinned by my mate - who plays a little drums and another bass player mate.

I announce that we're gonna do a Free number - not Alright Now lI announce and off we go playing The Stealer. The Al has sounded great all night and now it's time for the Kossoff type lead break in the song, - I turn the guitar Volume right up and .... blattt it's awesome!!!!

Went on again later and jammed a few numbers with the Al but stayed a lot in the background just filling in

It was a great night. The langlady was really nice - asked me to come back, and then some of the "heads" came over to me and said "That bloody guitar!! - best sounding thing we've ever had in here (honest that's what they said!!)"
Landlady let us have free drinks then at the end of the night out comes a huge tray of Pulled Pork, sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce - hey life's little things but much appreciated, and I went out of my way to thank her for her hospitality.

So the Al slayed 'em all last night - period!!:D

Nice one Spud! It's always nice to hear people being blown away by the tone of the AL, BUT, don't forget you have an equal part in its appeal. Tone is in the fingers, ha. Rock on good sir.

Good job Kevin ! When I'm using my Albert lee on stage I'm always the first one to be blown away by the sound.

Playing live is my reason to live and do music. I love the thrill of a receptive crowd.

Great story Spud......Can I shout out for that poor liitle Roland Cube working so hard to please you and your Al......I need an Al now...

LOL That cube impressed me!!!

You would be a more than welcome addition to the ALOC. Hey the necks are virtually the same and the classic trem will sate your trem requirements. Go on, you know it makes sense :D

I played an AL for the first time the other day at a GC in Boston while on vacation, and I was ridiculously impressed. It was one with the three single coils and it blew every strat I've played out of the water. The sound was fantastic, and even though the neck was really different from my JP (obviously), it was still really playable and comfy.

Needless to say, an AL with the 3 singles is on my to-buy list haha.
